Beautiful and decorative ceramic bowl from the Romanian town of Horezu. The bowl is created by skilled local craftsmen and is carefully hand-turned and hand-painted, giving it a unique character and beauty. No two bowls are exactly the same, and the technique is so unique that it has been included as part of UNESCO's World Heritage.

The bowl can be used on the dinner table for serving food, as the ceramics are food approved. The bowl makes your table setting both unique and personal. The bowl is also beautiful to use as a decoration on the table, in the bookcase or similar, just as it is nice to use for storage for storing jewelery or other trinkets.

Once the pottery is modelled, it is carefully hand-painted using the traditional Romanian method, where multiple layers of paint are applied to create beautiful and unique decorations. After the first firing at temperatures between 850 and 950 degrees, the ceramics are glazed with a water-based glaze. It then dries before undergoing a second firing at higher temperatures, typically between 1000 and 1100 degrees.

The interaction between the clay and the several layers of color can result in small crack-like lines, which, however, should not be considered defects. On the contrary, they are a natural part of traditional Romanian ceramics.

In Romania, the pottery is primarily used as decorative art, but some also choose to use it for cooking and serving, which you can easily do, as the bowl is food approved.
