Ichendorf Laguna kande i glas Ichendorf

Ichendorf Milan

Hand-blown glass that possesses a unique lightness—both in its appearance and in the way it is made

The Story Behind Ichendorf Milano

The history of Ichendorf Milano began in the early 1900s in the small German town of Quadrath-Ichendorf, near Cologne.

In the 1990s, the brand moved to Milan, Italy’s design capital (hence the name Ichendorf Milano). By combining traditional Italian glass craftsmanship with modern design, Ichendorf continues to innovate by collaborating with the best contemporary Italian designers.

Today, Ichendorf Milano is known for its mouth-blown glass, where every single piece is shaped by hand. This applies to everything from pitchers and teapots to mugs and drinking glasses, where small variations in shape and air bubbles bear witness to the process behind them.

The Elegant and Functional Glass

{"type":"root","children":[{"type":"paragraph","children":[{"type":"text","value":"Ichendorf Milano’s glassware is characterized by a simple and clean design language, often drawing inspiration from modern everyday life and Italian design culture. \n\nItalian design culture is defined by a unique balance between craftsmanship, aesthetics, and function. There is a strong tradition of craftsmanship, where an understanding of materials and technical skill are combined with an awareness of form and visual lightness. At the same time, there is a long-standing culture of viewing design as part of everyday life—something to be used, not merely admired. \n\nThe collection spans a wide range—from small tumblers to pitchers and more sculptural glasses—making it possible to find forms suitable for both everyday use and special occasions. \n\nEach glass bears the mark of mouth-blown craftsmanship, where small variations bring life and character to the series. It is precisely this combination of lightness, function, and tradition that makes Ichendorf Milano more than just everyday objects—but small pieces of Italian design history in everyday life."}]}]}

A Curated Selection

At Studio Hafnia, Ichendorf Milano is part of a curated selection where mouth-blown glass and thoughtful design coexist side by side.

The focus here is on objects that can be used in everyday life while also lending the room a subtle, visual character—without losing touch with the craftsmanship from which they originate.
