Casa Cubista

Casa Cubista was founded in Algarve, Portugal by David Pimental and Aren Williams. Both are passionate about traditional materials such as terracotta, cotton and wool, and their collections are created in close collaboration with traditional artisans and small, family-owned businesses.
Known for their bold and geometric shapes, Casa Cubista draws on the honest, traditional materials - terracotta, cotton, sugar cane, jute, linen and wool - that they use to create their collections and work closely with traditional artisans and small family-owned businesses to bring it all to life.

The process from start to finish

Carefully shaped by Rui's hands
Rui first throws the lump of clay, which later turns into beautiful ceramics on the spinning wheel. While the clay turns at high speed, he gently forms the moistened clay into the exact shape and size he wants it to be.
Hand painted by Regina
After the pottery is shaped, it is placed outside in the hot Portuguese sun to dry, then Rui's aunt Regina delicately hand paints it as seen in the picture.
Burning
When Regina has finished giving the ceramic its beautiful colours, it is fired, whereby the beautiful colors really stand out.
The result is a perpetuation of both Rui's and Regina's meticulous craftsmanship and bears the stamp of their many years of experience and passion for their work.
The end result is some of Portugal's most beautiful ceramics and with the story of how each piece is made, the images of the artists almost come alive every time you look at it at home. We quickly fell in love, and we hope you can now see why.
