Vintage Murano globe table lamp in white reticello glass, mouth-blown in Italy in the 1970s. White threads are drawn into the clear glass in two opposing spirals, so they cross one another and form a fine, diamond-shaped net all the way around the sphere. It is one of the most demanding filigrana techniques, because the net only comes out even if the two layers are twisted against each other with complete precision.
Switched off, the globe looks graphic and crisp, almost like a woven pattern. Lit, the lines dissolve, the net softens, and the lamp casts a warm, milky light – while drawing its own pattern as a shadow on the wall behind it.
The globe rests on a polished brass base with a warm, golden glow that sits beautifully against the cool white glass. The cord is new: white, with a switch and EU plug, so the lamp simply needs plugging in. Wipe the glass with a soft, slightly damp cloth.
At H 20 cm and Ø approx. 20 cm it is small enough for the bedside table, the console or the windowsill – and just as decorative off as on. Please note that handmade Murano glass may have small variations in shape, pattern and surface. These are not flaws, but part of the craft that makes every piece unique.
