Vintage Murano Globe Table Lamp in White Swirl Glass with Brass Base | H25 cm
Vintage Murano globe table lamp in hand-blown white swirl glass. The opal-white stripes wind in an even spiral all the way around the sphere – a pattern created as the glass is turned during blowing, and therefore never quite the same from one lamp to the next. Lit, the whole globe glows softly and the spiral appears as fine bands of light.
The globe rests on a round brass base with a warm, golden sheen. It has been neither polished up nor lacquered, so there are light age marks and small uneven patches across the surface – exactly what you would expect of a lamp from the 1960s or 70s, and precisely what gives the warm, bright brass its depth against the cool, milky-white glass.
The cord is new: white, with a switch and EU plug, so the lamp is ready to use straight away. The socket sits inside the glass globe and cannot be seen from the outside, so we don't state the socket size – a low-wattage bulb suits the glass best. Wipe the glass with a soft, slightly damp cloth.
At H 25 × Ø approx. 25 cm it is larger than most Murano globe lamps and can stand on its own on a dresser, a coffee table or a bedside table. We have two examples of this model. They are handmade and therefore not quite identical – small variations in the run of the spiral, the shape of the glass and the sheen of the base are part of the craft.
