Vintage Kokeshi Doll No. 234 from Japan – Handmade | H 21 cm
A truly distinctive vintage Kokeshi doll with a sculptural, curved body and a gentle, expressive face.
The doll’s face is painted with fine eyebrows, softly closed eyes and a small red mouth, framed by black hair with delicate red accents. The top of the head is decorated with an unusual dotted pattern in red and green on a beige ground, adding a playful and rare detail.
The body is beautifully shaped with a rounded waist and is decorated with horizontal stripes in red, yellow and purple, combined with a bold wave motif at the base in red and green. The colors stand out vividly against the natural wood tone, giving the piece both rhythm and character.
The underside is signed with Japanese characters, a mark of authenticity and traditional craftsmanship.
A rare and special Kokeshi doll that combines classic striping with unique dotted and wave elements – perfect for collectors or as a decorative accent with personality.
