Vintage Kokeshi Doll No. 217 from Japan – Handcrafted | H33.5 cm
A tall and elegant vintage Kokeshi doll from Japan with a calm and welcoming expression. Her face is gently painted with arched brows, small smiling lips, and half-closed eyes. The hair is decorated with bold black side sections and a stylized topknot adorned with red flower petals.
The body features a series of vertical, stylised red floral or botanical motifs, hand-painted in a rhythmic composition down the front. The back is left undecorated, and the surface of the wood shows natural aging with light marks and warm patina. The underside is signed in black ink.
A lovely example of the taller and more refined Kokeshi style – perfect for collectors who appreciate subtle character and natural wear.
