Verk Armchair Trienna 2.0 – Carl-Axel Acking
Armchair Trienna 2.0 is an iconic lounge chair that carries forward one of the most enduring design ideas in Swedish furniture history. Originally designed by Carl-Axel Acking in 1957 and reintroduced by Swedish brand Verk in 2022, it stays true to the original’s materials, proportions, and uncompromising craftsmanship.
For more than half a century, Trienna has demonstrated what true sustainability means in practice: well-considered construction, honest materials, and a form that ages beautifully. The examples circulating on the second-hand market today clearly show how patina gives each chair unique and beautiful character over time.
The chair is crafted from solid Swedish oak, and the seat is made from organic, traceable natural leather from the renowned Tärnsjö Tannery – just like the original. Trienna 2.0 retains the visible mortise-and-tenon joints and the self-supporting leather seat that form the chair’s structural core.
With this relaunch, Verk has, in close dialogue with the Acking family as well as previous owners and upholsterers, made two subtle refinements to further extend the chair’s lifespan:
- The seat is now tensionable, allowing it to be adjusted as the leather stretches over time
- The stitching in the backrest has been reinforced to increase durability
The result is a timeless lounge chair that unites classic Swedish design, uncompromising craftsmanship, and modern longevity.
