Shigeru Uchida Nature Paper Lamp Bud – Japanese rice paper table lamp
Nature Paper Lamp "Bud" is handmade by Asano Shoten in Japan's Gifu prefecture, carrying the workshop's long tradition of lantern craftsmanship into a compact, portable form. Each lamp is built from the finest Mino washi paper, stretched over a spiral-wound bamboo rib and shaped by hand over a wooden mould. The shade rests on a solid base of Japanese cypress, giving the lamp a calm balance and durability despite its lightweight construction.
The name "Bud" reflects the softly opening form that suggests growth and movement, letting the light seep warm and muted through the washi surface. The lamp is made to be used without a cord: it runs on battery and can be placed freely around the home, casting a warm, ambient glow with a quiet, organic presence. Designed by the renowned Japanese designer Shigeru Uchida.
