Stillark — a Copenhagen architecture studio
Stillark is a Copenhagen-based architecture studio focused on the home and the life lived in it. Founded by an architect, the studio works on bespoke kitchens from the first sketches to the finished room. The furniture collection grew out of that work, and it shows: the proportions, the choice of materials and the way the pieces fit together all come from the kitchens.
We have written more about the studio and the thinking behind the furniture in our journal.
Simplicity, functionality and craftsmanship
Stillark's design philosophy rests on three principles: simplicity, functionality and craftsmanship. They inform every decision, from the proportions of a piece to the choice of material. The result is furniture without superfluous detail — pieces that can stay in a home for years without tiring.
Display cabinets in Stillark's colours
Colour Cabinet is Stillark's display cabinet, and it comes in two sizes: the tall one at 176 cm and the compact one at 80 cm. The cabinets are built in ash with tempered glass doors and chrome and brass handles, and they are painted in two of Stillark's signature colours — one outside and one inside, so the interior becomes a coloured backdrop for whatever you put on show. The stock colours are Limestone/Clear Blue, Misty Blue/Hvass Grey and Hvass Grey/Terracotta, and the cabinets are also available in oak veneer. If you would like another colour from Stillark's chart, the cabinet can be ordered as a custom colour.
Tables, benches and stools
The Gable series is the heart of the collection. The dining tables come as round in Ø100 and Ø120 cm and as rectangular in 165 and 220 cm, matched by the Gable Bench at 120 cm and the Gable Stool. All are available in the same colours as the cabinets, so you can compose a room across the pieces.
Shelves, mirrors and smaller pieces
For the wall there is the Gable Shelf and the Gable Rack Shelf — shelves originally drawn as an alternative to wall-mounted kitchen cabinets, but equally good for books, stationery or toys. The Relief Mirror comes in two sizes, 73 and 140 cm. Alongside them are cutting boards in solid oak and rugs in Stillark's colours.
The colours
Stillark's palette is Hvass Grey, Terracotta, Misty Blue, Clear Blue, Dark Oak, Limestone, Stormy Grey, Sienne, Verde and Oak. It runs through the whole collection, so a cabinet, a table and a shelf can be gathered in the same shade — or deliberately set against one another.
