Fripon

Fripon was founded in 2025 to continue the production of the iconic Filosof lamp, following an agreement with Lars-Erik. The lamp was created in 1990 by Copenhagen architect Lars-Erik Ejlers (1948–2024) for the restaurant Cap Horn in Nyhavn.

Lars-Erik Ejlers was not like most architects. He constantly immersed himself in new projects across a wide range of fields. He reopened Restaurant Lumskebugten after a period of decline, founded the booking agency “GOOD MUSIC”, and created countless graphic posters and works of art.

His many ideas and projects also meant that the Filosof lamp became the only design object he ever fully realised.

The Filosof lamp, created for Restaurant Cap Horn in Nyhavn, was launched with the confident slogan “A new classic sees the light of day” and has since become an almost mythical classic due to its long history of rare and highly personal distribution. Lars-Erik Ejlers took the lamp with him wherever he went, from the bar at Hotel D’Angleterre to Holstein Bodega, turning Copenhagen’s nightlife into his personal showroom. To own a Filosof lamp was to own a piece of a story. It was often purchased directly from him during a late-night visit to one of the city’s bars, making the lamp both rare and iconic.

Today, the Filosof lamp is crafted by Danish artisans using a traditional metal-spinning technique. It is a manual process in which each lamp receives the attention and care it deserves.

The lamp is a compact pendant with three metal shades, making it a beautiful addition above a kitchen island, a smaller dining table, or in a cosy seating area where its sculptural form can take centre stage.

Today, the Filosof lamp is available in two versions. The original model combines copper and brass, while a newer version with nickel-plated shades gives the classic pendant a cool, silvery appearance. Explore more Danish design, iconic lighting, and timeless designs at Studio Hafnia.
