Daruma is a popular good luck charm in Japan. The iconic Daruma figure, with no arms or legs, represents the founder of Zen Buddhism, Bodhidharma, who, according to legend, meditated for nine years until his limbs withered away. The Daruma doll is known for always returning to an upright position when knocked over, and according to Japanese tradition, it falls seven times but rises eight. It symbolizes perseverance, rebirth, and the belief in never giving up.
The colors of Daruma dolls each have their own meaning, and light green is often associated with growth, balance, and harmony. This Japanese Daruma mug is therefore not only functional, but also a beautiful and meaningful symbol in your home.
