Our hand-blown Murano carafes and jugs are crafted in Italy and designed exclusively for Studio Hafnia. Each piece is a small work of art with a unique expression – beautiful for serving and just as elegant as vases.

Because every jug and carafe is blown by hand, the play of colour, the thickness of the glass and the shape vary slightly from piece to piece. That is exactly what makes each one unique – and why a mouth-blown Murano carafe never looks mass-produced.

A glass jug for water is the most versatile choice: clear glass shows off the drink and suits everything from a weeknight dinner to entertaining. Our glass jugs come both in mouth-blown glass and in durable borosilicate glass that also withstands hot drinks. If you prefer a more earthy look, a ceramic jug or clay jug is a good choice – the hand-painted or unglazed surface adds character, and ceramic keeps drinks cold for longer. For everyday serving, most people choose a water jug with a handle in a size that is easy to lift, while a slim carafe suits wine and juice on the table.

Yes. All jugs and carafes in glass, ceramic and stainless steel at Studio Hafnia are food-safe and suitable for both cold and hot drinks.

 

Are the Murano carafes handmade?
Yes. Our Murano carafes and jugs are hand-blown in Italy and have a unique, handmade character. They can be used for serving or as decorative vases.

 

Do you have hand-painted jugs?
Yes. Especially from Casa Cubista, where each jug is hand-painted in Portugal. We also carry handmade ceramic jugs from Oliver & Rose.

 

Which materials can I choose from?
The collection includes hand-blown glass (incl. Murano and Ichendorf Milano), hand-painted/handmade ceramics (Casa Cubista, Oliver & Rose) and stainless steel (French presses).

 

What is the difference between a jug and a carafe?
A jug usually has a handle and a spout and is made for serving water, milk or juice. A carafe is most often without a handle, has a slimmer neck, and is used especially for wine and water on the table.

 

Which size glass jug should I choose?
For a dinner table of 4-6 people, a glass jug of around 1 litre works well. If the jug will also be used for iced coffee or lemonade in the garden, 1.5 litres and up is more practical.

 

Is a ceramic jug dishwasher safe?
Most of our ceramic and clay jugs are dishwasher safe, but hand-painted models stay their best with hand washing. Always check the individual product page.
