Aiayu – Sustainable luxury in natural materials
Aiayu is a Danish brand from Copenhagen, founded by designer Maria Høgh Heilmann and CEO Maria Glæsel. The collections unite Scandinavian minimalism, premium quality and ethical responsibility, crafted from exclusive natural materials with a focus on longevity and timeless design.
Aiayu’s story – from llama wool to global design
The name Aiayu means “soul” in the Bolivian Aymará language and reflects the brand’s core values. Since its founding in 2005 with llama wool from Bolivia, the range has expanded to include yak and Sartuul wool, soft cashmere and GOTS-certified organic cotton. Each material is selected for natural beauty, comfort and durability.
Sustainability in every thread
Aiayu works with certified partners, renewable energy and advanced water treatment to move towards a more circular production. Natural undyed shades are used whenever possible to minimise chemicals and ensure clean, biodegradable qualities—beautifully aligned with Scandinavian, minimalist interiors.
Aiayu DOMUS – home textiles for the timeless home
The DOMUS collection offers a curated selection of Aiayu cushions, throws and home textiles that bring calm, texture and comfort to everyday living. The focus is on tactile surfaces, hard-wearing fibres and functional design that looks beautiful year after year.
